Direct-Coupled Impact Mill1. Equipment Function and Application Scope:
The Direct-Coupled Impact Mill is a new product successfully developed by our company in 2000 and has been
granted two national patents. It is currently widely used in the wheat milling industry to pulverize pure endosperm
particles separated by high-deck screens or flour cleaners after grinding by roller mills. It can also be used to
pulverize granular materials such as corn, feed, pigments, resins, and ores.

2. Structural Features of the Direct-Coupled Impact Mill:
2.1 Wuxi Hasen impact mill features direct coupling (rotor shaft directly connected to motor shaft) with a
rotational speed of approximately 2900 r/min. It boasts a simple structure, low cost, stable performance,
minimal wear parts, low failure rate, and extended service life.
2.2 It employs steel billet carbide pins with wear resistance hundreds of times higher than standard steel
pins. Extensive testing and practical application have demonstrated that under conditions ensuring consistent
milling efficiency, the service life of these carbide pins exceeds 10 years. Since the pins are the only
wear-prone and maintenance-required components (excluding the motor), a 10-year pin lifespan
effectively means the mill requires no maintenance for a decade.
2.3 Our company manufactures two specifications of direct-drive impact mills: FMFZ59-1 and FMFZ53-1.
These impact mills can be equipped with motors of varying power ratings to meet the diverse needs of
large, medium, and small-scale flour production lines.
3. Application Scenarios for Direct-Coupled Impact Mills:
3.1. Installed after the flour cleaner or high-deck screen, the direct-coupled impact mill can assume
part of the existing milling line's fine grinding tasks for 1st and 2nd heart flour. This effectively
extends the roller length of the front heart mill, widening its processing capacity.
3.2. Wuxi Hasen Direct-drive impact mills can be installed in the primary grinding system to
process soft coarse flour (8XX/12XX particle size) separated after re-screening, primary
grinding, and residue grinding. This also functions as widening the primary grinding section.
3.3. Replace the 4th-stage fine roller mill or all roller mills following the 3rd-stage mill.
3.4. Add impact mills to the existing re-screening system in the flour milling line.
3.5. Replace the high-impact loosening mill installed after the existing single- or double-
heart roller mill in the flour milling line with a direct-drive impact mill.
3.6. Replace the 7-heart roller mill (i.e., the so-called “heartless mill”) with a direct-
drive impact mill.
3.7. Add one impact mill to the bran milling system for impact grinding of finished bran
to enhance overall flour yield or increase middlings output.
Among the seven application scenarios above, we recommend prioritizing the first three options.
4. Performance Advantages of Direct-Coupled Impact Mills:
4.1. The FMFZ 59 impact mill achieves a direct extraction rate of approximately 60% for soft
coarse flour with particle sizes of 8XX/12XX (approximately double that of roller mills grinding
similar materials). Wuxi Hasen Equipped with a 22kW or 30kW motor, the impact mill
achieves a throughput of 2.5–3.5 t/h (equivalent to three pairs of grinding rollers), with
electricity consumption for producing the same flour quantity being over 10% lower than roller mills.
4.2 The FMFZ 53 impact mill achieves a direct extraction rate of approximately 50% for
soft coarse flour with particle sizes of 8XX/12XX (over 50% higher than roller mills grinding
similar materials). When equipped with a 15kW or 18.5kW motor, the impact mill
achieves an output of 1.5–2 t/h, with electricity consumption for producing the same
amount of flour being over 5% lower than that of roller mills.
5. Structure and Working Principle of Direct-Coupled Impact Grinding Equipment:
Wuxi Hasen structure of the direct-coupled impact grinder is shown in the figure:
apart from the two major components—the housing and cover plate—the rotor
and stator are the two key parts.
Wuxi Hasen rotor consists of a disc-shaped rotor plate equipped with 3 to 6 rows of
square-section pins (12 to 48 pins per row) and a hub fixed at the rotor plate's center.
The rotor is directly coupled to the motor shaft via this hub. The stator comprises a
disc-shaped stator plate equipped with 3 to 6 rows of square-cross-section pins
(20 to 72 pins per row), secured to a disc-shaped cover plate using inner and outer rings of screws.
During operation, the motor drives the rotor to rotate at high speed. Material enters the
direct-drive impact mill through the feed port on the cover plate. The airflow from pneumatic
conveying and the centrifugal force from the rotor's rotation force the material through the
gap between the rotor and stator discs, then discharge it through the outlet port on the
housing. During this process, the pins mounted on the high-speed rotating rotor disc
deliver intense impacts to the material passing through the narrow gap between them
and the stator pins. Since the gap between the rotor pins and stator pins in the
direct-drive impact mill is only 1–1.5 mm, the intense impact of the pins can Impact
a significant portion of wheat endosperm into flour.
Therefore, under certain specific conditions, it can replace roller mills as a key flour-making
equipment. As the rotor diameter increases, the impact intensity of the pins during operation
also increases. Therefore, larger-sized direct-drive impact mills achieve higher flour extraction rates.

7. Installation and Commissioning
7.1 Due to the high precision in manufacturing and assembly of impact mills, and given their
structural characteristics, foreign objects that cannot be crushed by the pins entering the
equipment will inevitably cause severe damage to the entire machine, potentially rendering
it unusable.
Furthermore, over 90% of foreign objects encountered in flour production lines
are steel components. Therefore, each impact mill sold by our companyWuxi Hasen is equipped
with a permanent magnet cylinder. Note: Every sales contract explicitly requires users to install the
supplied permanent magnet cylinder near the mill in the feed chute or conveying pipe.
Failure to do so will result in the user bearing full responsibility for any equipment damage
and associated losses.
7.2 All impact mills manufactured by our company undergo complete installation and
commissioning prior to shipment. Users need only connect the pipelines to conduct trial runs.
However, Wuxi Hasen to prevent foreign objects entering the equipment during transportation
and installation, manually rotate the motor to inspect it before powering on for trial runs.
Only proceed if no abnormal noises are detected. Before powering on for trial runs, perform a
“spot start” to verify the rotor's rotation direction (the rotor should spin in a direction that
flings material toward the discharge port).
Only after confirming the correct rotation direction should the equipment be powered
on for formal trial runs. The trial run duration should be no less than 30 minutes.
After confirming no abnormal noises during the trial run, material feeding may commence.
8. Operation and Maintenance
8.1 Before commissioning a new machine, manually rotate the motor fan blades to turn the
impact mill rotor. If abnormal noises are detected during manual operation, notify our
company to dispatch personnel for inspection and repair. Under no circumstances should
the machine be powered on until abnormal noises are confirmed absent.
8.2 After confirming no abnormal noises during the power-on test run, material feeding
may commence. During the material feeding test phase, closely monitor changes in motor
current and machine operating sounds to prevent motor burnout caused by severe material blockage.
8.3 The impact mill must be started under no-load conditions. Any material inside the machine
must be cleared before restarting. Wuxi Hasen To ensure no material remains inside the housing,
stop feeding before shutting down the equipment. Run the machine under no-load conditions
for 2 minutes before powering off.
8.4 If persistent metallic grinding noises occur during startup or operation, immediately
shut down the equipment. Adjust the axial position of the rotor shaft to eliminate
the grinding sound.
8.5 The impact grinding mill components and overall assembly exhibit high precision.
Users should avoid disassembling the machine
except for motor maintenance. When disassembly is unavoidable, ensure rotor and
stator pins are not struck or impacted. Unauthorized removal, replacement, or
repositioning of pins is strictly prohibited.
8.6 After ten days of normal operation following installation, measure the no-load
current and operating current for each impact mill. Record these values meticulously
in the equipment technical archives.
Whether the operating current falls within 75% to 95% of the motor's rated current
is a critical criterion for evaluating the appropriateness of equipment selection and
motor power matching.
Wuxi Hasen The magnitude and variation of the difference between operating current
and no-load current serve as key indicators of equipment performance. After
maintenance, measure the operating current and adjust the rotor's axial position
to ensure the operating current equals or exceeds the pre-maintenance value.

16. The ZJ59 impact mill features a 10mm thick steel plate for the fixed disc and a 12mm thick steel
plate for the rotating disc, both machined with annular grooves. The pins utilize our patented
alloy pins (numbering up to 438), significantly enhancing wear resistance while extending powder
retention time by 3-5 times. This ensures long-term stability in equipment performance.
17. The equipment is equipped with live flanges at the inlet and outlet, facilitating the connection
